Yesterday I started the customisation of my first motorcycle. The start was a Honda CBR600FII, built 1992. To be honest, the bike looked like crap. The body was torn, scratched and frankly totally abused. Then I fell with it myself, en the body was beyond repair.
That's when I realised something had to change. I loved this motorcycle, but I hated the way it looked. I was proud to be a biker, but was ashamed of my wheels.
First plan: ditch everything that is made out of plastic. Front body and headlight, chain guard and fenders and mount simple clubman headlight. (By the way, if you want good and fairly priced Café Racer parts, visit www.caferaceronderdelen.nl ;)The wiring is still visible, but that is a job for next weekend, I will upload the results :-)
Next, remove paint from the gastank and repaint. But when I removed the paint, a job that Gil Van Eyck assisted me with (Thanks, bro ;)), I realised that the color of the bare metal was much cooler! So now we are going to sand it down and put a clear coating on! We are painted the exhaust pipes black, so it would be a cleaner look for the motorcycle
Removed the seat, covers, tank and exhaust
The result from the chemical we used to remove the paint
Removing the paint was very easy (hence the smile on my buddy's face ;)
Proud Owner :-)
The bike as it sits now
